The 2013 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Rare Collection, a pure Chardonnay from Avize, Cramant, Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger, spent eight years on lees after partial fermentation in stainless steel and barrel. Smooth yet cool creaminess greets the nose, followed by a tender streak of tangerine peel carried on a sea breeze. Energy and drive define the sleek palate, where the creamy fine mousse contains unbounded energy. This wine seems to tremble and vibrate beneath the surface, echoing the primordial ocean's roar.
