Robert Parker

Stephan Reinhardt

Based on the 2014 vintage, the NV Brut Rosé is almost the same blend as the Brut Classique but with 12% added red wine and a slightly higher percentage of Chardonnay. The wine has a pale pink color and offers a very delicate bouquet with fine red fruit and floral aromas. On the palate, this is pure, fresh and very stimulating, with citrus flavors in the vibrant finish.

Wine Spectator

Bruce Sanderson

Starts out rich and round, displaying complex flavors of cherry, curry and watermelon, with accents of toast and spice. There's a firm tactile feel on the finish. Drink now through 2012. 1,667 cases made.

Decanter

Caramelised apples, sweet strawberries, gingerbread spice, rye bread and tangy cranberry. Redcurrant fruit with linear acidity, a salty soy-like edge, and a vinous finish.

This is a fruitier rosé. Dry and layered with nice phenols, yet it’s lively. Full-bodied, creamy and relatively dry at the end. Not heavy, but agile. 46% chardonnay, 20% pinot noir and 34% pinot meunier. Drink or hold.

Vinous

Josh Raynolds

(45% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir; 8 g/l dosage; L14198): Light, bright orange. Vibrant, mineral-accented aromas of pomegranate, raspberry and tangerine, plus a suave note of smoky lees. Bitter rhubarb and cherry skin flavors give way to softer, sweeter raspberry on the mid-palate, with gentle minerality adding spine and lift. Packs a solid punch but comes off surprisingly lithe for its power. Finishes with excellent clarity, a subtle vanilla quality and strong mineral-driven persistence. In the context of top-drawer pink Champagne this bottling always delivers outstanding value.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Medium salmon pink, delicate copper-coloured reflections, delicate, lively mousse. Nuances of red forest berries, a hint of Greengage plum, pickled cherry, lime zest are in the background. Taut, white apple, racy acidity, mineral, red currants on the finish, slender, easy-drinking style.

Andreas Larsson

Medium-deep rosé colour with a copper hue and youthful mousse. Pure, floral nose offering red berries, cherry, plum and pain d’épices. A youthful bite on the palate, fresh and fruit-driven with a young creamy texture; fresh and generous with crushed red berries and a rather long finish.

The NV Brut Rosé is attractive, with floral and primary aromas of candied strawberry, apricot, and melon. Fresh and dry, with ripe tangerine, crushed stone, and a delicate savory quinine touch, this is a charming wine to drink now or over the next 6–8 years.

La RVF

a beautiful intense rosé color, with abundant bubbles; the nose shows sugared strawberry, marat, and raspberry notes

Bettane+Desseauve

The brilliance of a pale rose. Fiery aromas of grapefruit peel and pulp, the rose speaks intimately and young flower buds unfold generously within a veil of almond milk. The palate is striking, lifted by a lovely bittersweet tang of mandarin peel. A joyful finish, tantalisingly sapid. Absolute radiance.

This is a soft, rounded Champagne that has red-berry flavors bursting through acidity and a crisp texture. This is an immediately attractive wine, tangy and ready to drink.

Description

A lively and fruity Brut Rosé Champagne

The estate

Alfred Gratien founded the eponymous house in 1864. Located in Épernay, in the heart of Champagne, Maison Alfred Gratien has, since its creation, championed a rigorous selection of grapes, barrel fermentation, and limited volumes in order to preserve the original character of the terroir and highlight all the freshness of its wines.

The expertise of the Champagne Alfred Gratien House has been passed down from father to son for several generations and contributes to the unique style of each cuvée.

The vineyard

Alfred Gratien oversees a 1.56-hectare vineyard classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, located on two iconic Champagne terroirs, the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. The house complements its supply with purchases from around sixty winegrowers loyal to the house for generations.

Winemaking and aging

Exclusive use of the first pressing. Since 1864, winemaking has been carried out entirely in oak barrels of at least four wines. This method encourages gentle micro-oxygenation and imparts complexity and roundness. Vinification is done by plot without malolactic fermentation to preserve the original integrity of the fruit and the lively character of this champagne rosé with significant aging potential.

Blend

Chardonnay
Pinot Noir.
