Description
The aromatic signature of a Patagonian Pinot Noir
The estate
In 2004, Piero Incisa della Rocchetta's ambition was to produce great Argentinian wines that would provide the purest expression of the microclimate and terroir of Mainqué, in the Rio Negro region of Patagonia. To achieve this, he founded Bodega Chacra and turned to biodynamic and organic farming. Thus, with the greatest respect for the environment and thanks to a precise knowledge of nature, this bold enthusiast produces pure, delicate, floral wines with an intense minerality.
The name "chacra" in Patagonia refers to pomology, the cultivation of edible fruit, and thus highlights the predestination of the estate's land for viticulture. The chacras are vital energy centres and the wine, by lending itself to joyous and memorable get-togethers, embodies this idea of connecting to one's senses.
The vineyard
Bodega Chacra is located in the heart of the Rio Negro region, a land stemming from the junction between two rivers called Limay and Neuquén. The climate is windy and dry. Nevertheless, the irrigation canals dug by British settlers at the beginning of the 19th century make it a lush and green setting suitable for agriculture. The estate’s 24 hectares of vineyards are entirely composed of Pinot Noir.
Vinification and ageing
Cincuenta y Cinco Pinot Noir 2021 by Chacra is a Patagonian wine aged for 9 months in French oak barrels (55%) and concrete tanks (45%).
The blend
Cincuenta y Cinco 2021 by Chacra is a 100% Pinot Noir.
