Wine Spectator

Bruce Sanderson

A solidly built red permeated with blackberry, black cherry, ink and black pepper flavors. This tightens up, a good sign for future development, yet remains balanced and long. Offers terrific concentration and freshness. Drink now through 2028. 175 cases imported.

Vinous

Eric Guido

Crushed ashen stone, peppery black fruits, camphor and lifting mineral tones waft up from the 2019 Syrah Bramasole. This is soft and deeply textural, guided by brisk acids and salty minerals which mix with its masses of ripe dark fruits to create a harmonious expression. Aggressive tannins saturate toward the close. There’s so much potential here and with incredible length. A “wow” wine for sure; one that will provide a long and steady evolution in the cellar.

Description

A Tuscan red wine with wonderful freshness and depth

The estate

Antinori - La Braccesca is an emblematic winery in Italy's Tuscany region. It is part of the history of the prestigious Antinori family, renowned for its unwavering commitment to producing wines of exceptional quality for over six centuries. Located between the towns of Montepulciano and Cortona, the estate is a veritable jewel in the crown of Tuscany's wine-growing heritage, bearing witness to the know-how and passion that characterise the Antinori family.

The vineyard

A benchmark among Tuscan wines, Antinori - La Braccesca's 2019 Bramasole comes from a vineyard covering around 20 hectares on the border between Tuscany and Umbria. Benefiting from a continental climate tempered by the proximity of Lake Trasimeno, the Bramasole vineyard sees its vines flourish on soil rich in clay and flint, favouring the authentic expression of the Syrah grape variety.

Winemaking and ageing

After being harvested by hand, the grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, preserving the freshness and purity of the fruit. This Cortona wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, before resting in bottle for a minimum of 12 months.
