Established in 1990, the Vacqueyras appellation covers over 1400 hectares in the Rhone Valley, shared between the communes of Vacqueyras and Sarians. The vines enjoy a Mediterranean climate with a strong presence of the Mistral wind. They are planted in alluvial soils, glacial terraces of the Riss with sandy clay soils and rolled pebbles. The Vacqueyras appellation produces mainly red wines, though one may also observe white and rosé wines here. Generally, these wines combine breadth, delicacy and complexity, while at the same time showing themselves to be powerful, fresh and very fine.
