The estate
Located in La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe, an emblematic region in northern Italy, the Roberto Voerzio estate has been writing its history since 1986. With 20 hectares of vineyards, the estate is an essential reference among fine Piedmont wines. Produced with a deep respect for nature and without chemical inputs, Roberto Voerzio's wines are the perfect expression of the flagship grape variety, Nebbiolo, as well as the great terroirs of this Italian wine-growing area.
The vineyard
Roberto Voerzio's Serra is a Barolo wine made since 1987 on south-east facing vineyards in the commune of La Morra.
Vinification and ageing
Fermentation in steel tanks. Initial ageing for 24 months in 15hl barrels and casks, followed by a further 8 months in steel vats and 8 months in bottle.
The blend
Roberto Voerzio's 2010 Serra is a 100% Nebbiolo.
Service
For an optimal tasting, it is recommended to open the bottle 2 to 3 hours before tasting between 15 and 16°C.
The 2010 Barolo La Serra shows a broader approach to its aromatic delivery with a generous portion of red fruit, blackberry and a touch of exotic spice. Like the Cerequio, the wine shows impressive grip and structure that goes above and beyond many of the other wines made in this delicate vintage. Barolo La Serra is focused and bright and should hold many long years. Drink: 2017-2033.
