The 2007 Barolo Bussia of Prunotto is a pure Nebbiolo. The vineyard enjoys a southern orientation as well as rich calcareous and sandy soils. This cuvee was created during a year marked by contrasts with fluctuating temperatures; the grapes reached perfect balance between sugar and acidity. The 2007 vintage Barolo Bussia of Prunotto is the result of a perfect blend between outstanding terroir and the careful vinification. The wine displays a garnet-tinted intense red colour with ruby-tinted highlights. The aromatic bouquet is complex and dominated by well ripened small fruits and cherry aromas, as well as floral and spicy hints. On the palate, the flavours are strong and supple tannins are carried throughout a long finish. This wine, partially aged in oak barrels, will perfectly pair with game.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Dark fruit, mocha, espresso, menthol, licorice and spices are some of the notes that emerge from the 2007 Barolo Bussia. This powerful, sensual wine possesses tons of depth and richness to match its muscular, virile tannins. The wine fleshes out nicely through to the warm, resonating finish. This is a beautiful effort from Prunotto. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.
