Description
Louis Jadot presents a harmonious and refined Clos de la Roche Grand Cru wine
The estate
The Maison Louis Jadot, established since 1859, is a true reference in Burgundy. The family adventure began with the acquisition in 1826 of a parcel of the famous Beaune Premier Cru des Ursules. The house then established itself thanks to trading, which today earns it an international reputation, notably across the Atlantic. Maison Louis Jadot continues the notion of a Burgundy accessible to all those seeking high-quality wines through a wide range of cuvées, including regional, Village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru appellations. At the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position in September 2022 to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the General Management to his son Thibault.
The vineyard
The 2021 Grand Cru cuvée from Louis Jadot is a wine from Clos de la Roche, an appellation located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru is adjacent to the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, facing east on clay-limestone soils.
Vinification and aging
During the manually conducted harvest, the berries are placed in small crates to preserve the essence of the fruit. Once at the winery, the berries mature in open wooden or stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, two punch-downs are performed daily. Finally, this Clos de la Roche wine is aged for 18 months in barrels crafted by the Maison Louis Jadot cooperage.
