Description
2012 Mâcon-Pierreclos, Chardonnay, Burgundy.
Jean-Marie Guffens succeeded in making his domaine a reference of the Mâconnais wine region but also of the Burgundy dry white wines in general. The Mâcon-Pierreclos Chavigne is a proof of that success vintage after vintage. The intense, mineral and pure 2012 Mâcon-Pierreclos Chavigne from Domaine Guffen-Heynen reproduces the shaded expressions of its calcareous-clay soil. The lovely yellow coloured Chardonnay wine offers a smooth and clear expression of yellow rose petals, Mirabelle plum, and peach in syrup. The palate is bold - the acidity is frank- fresh, scrumptious and of good length on stone fruits. The whole has volume and is serious.
The Mâcon-Pierreclos stretches on a plot of about 3.3 hectares, on which all aged vines are planted, from 10 to 80 year old vines; Chavigne is a South/West orientated plot, on a 40% slope.
