The climatic conditions in September and October were dry and hot which give to the Château Villemaurine grappe's ideal maturation that August hasn't done. The natural concentration and fine tannins of the berries gave the opportunity to make this excellent Château Villemaurine. This Saint-Emilion is composed this year of 80% of Merlot and 20% of Cabernet Franc. The red color is deep and dark. The nose is caracterized by the scent of fresh and mature black fruits. In the mouth the wine is fresh, dense and mineral. The straight and round tannins in the end are appreciated.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2014 Villemaurine did not really impress in barrel, although I was certainly more taken with this Saint Emilion now that it is in bottle. Here, it has a tightly wound bouquet with irony black fruit, mineral scents turning more floral with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a silky, almost Pinot Noir-like entry in terms of texture. Pretty red cherries mixed with kirsch and sorbet orange, finishing with a precise, understated finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. It is the detail that has improved so much in this wine, hence the upswing in more score. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
