The estate One of the Henri Martin estates, Château Saint-Pierre is a 4th Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien, which has been patiently restored by the dynamic Henri Martin to its original 1855 glory. This property is now one of the most famous Grands Crus Classés of this iconic appellation.
The vineyard Located in the AOC Saint-Julien, on the left bank of Bordeaux, Château Saint-Pierre covers 17 hectares of vines. The plantings are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), supplemented by Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). Château Saint-Pierre, along with the rest of the Henri Martin estates, have earned both ISO 140001 and HVE 3 certifications, and its vineyards are cultivated sustainably with organic and bio-control products.
The vintage The 2019 is already shaping up to be an exceptional vintage ending in -9. A rather mild and dry winter was followed by a rainy spring full of weather contrasts. The technical teams worked very quickly to keep the vineyard in perfect sanitary condition. Then came summer with its scorching temperatures. For this 2019 vintage, the harvest lasted from September 23 to October 4. The grapes were harvested at ideal ripeness thanks to a very meticulous plot-by-plot selection.
The winemaking The Saint-Julien Château Saint-Pierre 2019 has been vatted for 18 to 23 days. The aging took place in barrels with a proportion of 49% new wood.
The blend The Saint-Julien Château Saint-Pierre 2019 is made of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (79%), complemented by Merlot (21%).
The tasting Through a wine rich in colour, with a complex aromatic expression marked by a beautifully ripe fruit and a precise and structured palate, 2019 presents all the qualities of a fantastic vintage at Château Saint-Pierre.
