Description
An aromatic and balanced Red wine from Saint-Émilion
The estate
Owned by Silvio Denz, Château Peby Faugères is a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion located on the right bank of Bordeaux. Thanks to the efforts and investments made by Silvio Denz, Château Peby Faugères has progressively risen to become one of the appellation’s finest references. 2020 marks the estate’s first organic-certified vintage.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Peby Faugères covers 7.45 hectares of vines in the Saint-Émilion appellation. The vines are planted on a continuous clay-limestone slope with a south/southeast exposure. In a constant quest for perfection and respect for the environment, the vineyard is cultivated using organic viticulture.
The vintage
A particularly rainy winter preceded a very mild spring, encouraging strong downy mildew pressure. Thanks to the dry and warm conditions of mid-May, flowering was uniform and early. From June 19, rainfall gave way to dry and cool weather until mid-July, marking the start of veraison. Strong heatwaves persisted until mid-August, when welcome storms allowed the grapes to resume ripening. Harvested about ten days ahead of the average, the grapes are tannic, deeply colored, and perfectly balanced.
Winemaking and aging
A 30-day maceration. Aging lasts 18 months (100% in new French oak barrels).
Blend
This Château Peby Faugères 2020 is 100% Merlot.
