Vinum

Medium ruby, delicate, fine nose, spicy, with cherries, blackcurrants and violets; straightforward, compact, delicate fruit, plenty of drive and freshness, silky tannins, pronounced acidity; balanced, with blackcurrant and a touch of blood orange on the finish. Very drinkable here.

Jancis Robinson

James Lawther MW

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Cask sample. A complete wine with everything in place. Already open and fragrant. Supple and smooth with sufficient volume. Fresh but balanced, with firmness and length on the finish. (JL)

Underbrush, flowers, strawberries, tobacco, and cherries provide the wine its fragrant profile. Medium-bodied, soft, juicy, and fresh, the wine is elegant, with lift, energy, and a hint of crushed stone at the backend of the finish. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc create the blend. Drink from 2027-2040. 91-93 pts

Yves Beck

A lovely fruity expression paired with floral notes and plenty of freshness. Medium-bodied, the wine is slightly creamy and supported by velvety tannins, delivering precise, driving power. A wine that knows how to harness its energy with great finesse! In short, a great wine, with a lively, persistent finish.

Fragrant and grippy, with a lovely floral bouquet, gentle notes of cumin and clove. Less mid-palate density than in recent vintages, but they have captured the finesse and potential of the vintage, and you won’t have to wait too long to drink it. One to look out for if the prices are right. pH 3.6, 100% new oak, Philippe Baillarguet, cellar master. Harvest from 20 September to 5 October.

Bright colour with normal intensity. Intense, refined, fruity and subtle nose, developing truffled notes when the glass is swirled. Precise on the attack, then quickly very aromatic and silky, the wine becomes juicy, leading into a deep, unspittable finish. Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Alcohol content: 12.85% - pH: 3.53. Yield: 31 hl/ha.

Decanter

A softly perfumed nose with raspberry and cranberry elements. Crisp and crunchy, bright and shining, an almost sweet burst to the acidity with clean red berry fruit and lots of lifted freshness. A touch more density than Fonbel, with layers of mint, blueberry and liquorice. Well made with just a friendly, fun, and charming acidity. A touch sleek and lean towards the finish just becoming a bit more serious and spiced with lots of minerality but I like this. Very good. A yield of 35hl/ha. West exposure. Ageing 100% new oak. 3.5pH.

A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé with a fine and elegant structure

The estate
Located in Saint-Émilion, the Château Moulin Saint-Georges benefits from a privileged location, opposite the legendary Château Ausone and in close proximity to Château La Clotte. Since its acquisition in 1921, this discreet estate has been carefully cultivated by the Vauthier family. Not far away flows the Fongaban stream, an eternal witness to the passing of time and a symbol of the fleeting nature of human existence, in contrast with the permanence of the terroir. In the past, a mill belonging to the lordship of Saint-Georges stood precisely where the estate’s cellars and winery are now located.

The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Moulin Saint-Georges covers 7 hectares at the entrance to Saint-Émilion. The vines, averaging 25 years old, are planted on clay-limestone soils.

Vinification and aging
Hand harvesting and density sorting. Parcel vinification with gentle extractions. Fermentation in stainless steel vats to preserve the pure aromatic expression. Aged for 18 months in new barrels.

Blend

Merlot (80 %) and cabernet franc (20 %).
