Description
A Complex and Voluptous White Grand Cru Classé of Graves
A great property of the Graves region, Château Carbonnieux embodies the excellence of the wines of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, located in the south of the Bordeaux region.
Managed by the 3 Perrin siblings - Eric, Philibert and their sister Christine Lescuyer - the superb estate oversees an exceptional vineyard planted on a beautiful ridge of gravel that is beautifully illustrated by the most recent vintages, which are precise and expressive.
2017 will undoubtedly be in line with those vintages and will never be forgotten. The clay-limestone soils dedicated to white wines were particularly affected by periods of frost at the end of April. But while the yields were much lower than usual, they were also of very high quality. An early harvest revealed the consistent ripeness of all grape varieties.
Nicknamed a “winemaker’s vintage”, 2017 was particularly flattering for the white wines of Bordeaux. The Château Carbonnieux 2017 highlights the quality of the daily work carried out by the technical team of the Château with significant efforts conducted in a vineyard recently certified HVE 3 (High Environmental Value Level 3).
Made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (55%) and Sémillon (45%), the Château Carbonnieux white 2017 exudes fresh citrus aromas, scents of lemon and white-fleshed fruit, a signature of the estate. On the palate, the wine presents a superbly dense texture, highlighting the voluptuousness of excellent Sémillon, perfectly balanced by an energetic acidity. The aromatic persistence of the finish leaves a pleasant sensation of softness on deliciously fruity and floral notes. A superb vintage of Château Carbonnieux!
