Description
The structure and aromatic richness of a Saint-Émilion wine by Bellefont-Belcier
The estate
The Château Bellefont-Belcier was acquired in 1889 by the Faure family who, through innovation and hard work, made it one of the jewels of the Bordeaux region. In 1994, it became the property of the company BJL & Partenaires, which gave new life to this Grand Cru Classé by modernizing the facilities while respecting the various terroirs. Château Bellefont-Belcier changed hands several times in recent years before joining Vignobles K of Hong Kong businessman Peter Kwok in 2017.
The vineyard
Covering around twenty hectares, the vineyard of Château Bellefont-Belcier, a Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion in the Bordeaux region, is located on a clay-limestone hillside with Fronsadais molasse soils.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvest runs from September 15 to October 9. Fermentations are carried out without sulfur additions, and the winemaking is performed entirely in concrete vats. The ageing takes place in new barrels (30%), ovoid vats (20%), once-used barrels (25%) and twice-used barrels (25%).
Blend
Château Bellefont-Belcier 2020 is produced from a blend of Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
