A full-bodied and complex red wine from the Rhône Valley
The estate
An internationally renowned oenologist, Xavier Vignon has built his reputation by working with over 200 estates and contributing to the creation of some of the greatest wines in the Rhône Valley, notably in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In 2002, he decided to create his own cuvées under the "Xavier" label, blending the finest juices from meticulously selected plots. Free from the constraints of terroir and grape variety, Xavier Vignon crafts wines that reflect his vision: accessible, contemporary, and offering outstanding value for money. Thus was born the 100% Xavier collection.
The wine
This Lirac wine by Xavier Vignon is made from 15 plots planted on rolled pebbles and clay soils.
Vinification and aging
The grapes, harvested by hand, undergo a long maceration without mechanical extraction. The free-run juice is extracted exclusively by gravity, with no pressing of the pomace, to preserve its finesse. The Grenache is aged entirely in concrete vats, while 30% of the Syrah is aged for 12 months in un-toasted barrels; the remainder continues aging in concrete vats to retain the purity of the fruit.
Blend
Grenache (60%) and Syrah (40%).
