Description
Tasting Notes and Recommendations for the Years in Cask 22 Ans Grande Champagne 1999 by Bache-Gabrielsen
Tasting
Appearance
A natural colour, displaying a beautiful amber hue enhanced with orange highlights, the result of 22 years of ageing in cask.
Nose
A complex and intensely spiced aromatic profile. It reveals pronounced notes of clove, cigar box and gingerbread, enriched by indulgent nuances of Brazilian coffee and dark chocolate.
Palate
Round and remarkably long, the palate confirms the exotic character of the nose. It offers a beautiful harmony of dark chocolate, Brazilian coffee and gingerbread, underpinned by the fine elegance typical of the Grande Champagne terroir.
Food Pairings and Tasting Moments
To fully appreciate this highly contemplative spirit, it is recommended to warm the glass in the palm of the hand to reach the optimal tasting temperature. This cognac is best enjoyed neat at the end of a meal. It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate desserts, gingerbread, or a medium-bodied cigar to echo its smoky, empyreumatic notes.
Mixology
As an exceptional product from a very limited edition, we recommend drinking it neat, without any additions, to preserve the full complexity of its aromas and its long ageing process.
A Vintage Cognac of Rare Elegance from Grande Champagne
The Estate
Founded in 1905 by the young Norwegian Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen, the House of Bache-Gabrielsen tells a singular story where Scandinavian roots meet Charentais tradition. Based at the heart of the production region, this family-run négociant house relies on a solid network of winegrower-distillers to select its eaux-de-vie. Renowned for its values of authenticity, boldness and expertise, it stands out for the exceptional depth of its stocks and its spirit of innovation. Today, the estate is led by Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, representing the fourth generation. Under his leadership, the brand continues to showcase Cognac through transparent and precise creations, while maintaining its position as the undisputed leader on the Norwegian market.
Production
The Years in Cask 22 Ans Grande Champagne 1999 is a rare expression from one of the smallest harvests of the 20th century, marked by difficult climatic conditions. This Cognac comes exclusively from the prestigious terroir of Grande Champagne, classified Premier Cru, and is made entirely from the Ugni Blanc grape variety.
Distilled in 1999, it benefited from an extended ageing period of 22 years in Limousin oak casks. This meticulous maturation was overseen by master distiller Richard Mazières, allowing the spirit to develop exceptional aromatic complexity. Bottled in 2022, this vintage is presented in its purest form: natural colour and no cold filtration, guaranteeing the product's complete integrity. To highlight its exclusive character, this 70cl bottle is offered with elegant packaging options, including a "Tradition" gift box or a white sleeve, making this cuvée a true collector's item for discerning enthusiasts.
