Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for the Years in Cask 30 Ans Borderies 1993 by Bache-Gabrielsen
Tasting notes
Appearance
This spirit reveals a deep amber hue with golden and copper highlights. Its colour is entirely natural, reflecting a long ageing process without artifice, with remarkable clarity and brilliance.
Nose
The bouquet stands out for its great delicacy, dominated by wonderfully rounded aromas of fresh flowers typical of its cru. This floral vivacity is elegantly balanced by indulgent notes of crushed almonds and apricot.
Palate
The attack reveals a rich, silky and deeply velvety texture. The palate unfolds into a broad structure combining generous flavours of hazelnut, fresh vanilla and dried fruits, crowned by evolved nuances of old leather. The finish is long and harmonious, extending the floral and indulgent impressions.
Pairings and tasting moments
Designed for moments of contemplation, this spirit is best enjoyed as a digestif, at the end of a meal. To fully grasp its aromatic complexity, it is highly recommended to savour it neat, served at room temperature in a tulip glass, taking the time to let its aromas unfold slowly.
Mixology
As an exceptional and extremely rare product, it does not lend itself to mixology. We recommend savouring it neat, without any embellishment, to respect the integrity of its long ageing process.
A Borderies Cognac of rare elegance by Bache-Gabrielsen
Maison Bache-Gabrielsen: A Franco-Norwegian alliance
Founded in 1905 in Cognac by the young Norwegian Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen and his compatriot Peter Rustad, Maison Bache-Gabrielsen embodies the successful meeting of Scandinavian culture and Charentais expertise. Now led by Hervé Bache-Gabrielsen, a fourth-generation representative, this independent family business stands out for its historic foothold in Nordic markets and its ability to reconcile tradition with innovation. Supported by its cellar master Jean-Philippe Bergier, the estate showcases the diversity of its terroirs through a network of nearly 150 partner winegrowers. A pioneer in its commitments, Bache-Gabrielsen is also recognised for its corporate social responsibility, evidenced by its status as a "société à mission" and its B Corp certification.
The Years in Cask 30 Ans Borderies 1993 vintage: A treasure of the terroir
The Years in Cask 30 Ans Borderies 1993 is an iconic cuvée that embodies the quintessence of its terroir. Made exclusively from the ugni blanc grape variety, this "single estate" Cognac comes from the vines of the late Mr Garraud, a winegrower friend of the house located in Chérac-Borderies. The year 1993, described as a fantastic vintage, was marked by an extremely cold and dry winter followed by a mild, rainy spring, offering ideal conditions for grape ripening.
The making of this spirit is based on an exceptional 30-year ageing process in Limousin oak casks. Remarkably, this entire long maturation took place in the winegrower's personal cellar, illustrating a uniquely trusting collaboration. Bottled in 2025, this edition is strictly limited to just 403 bottles, making it a true collector's item. Available in a "Tradition" gift box or a white case, this naturally coloured vintage is the result of patient and respectful reduction, delivering a pure and authentic expression of the Borderies.
