Romanée-Saint-Vivant is a Grand Cru appellation in the Côte de Nuits which extends over more than 8 hectares in the Romanée-Saint-Vivant commune. The vineyards in the Romanée-Saint-Vivant appellation have soil similar to those in Romanée-Conti. They are both calcareous brown clay soil, and the only difference is that the Romanée-Conti one is deeper. The Romanée-Saint-Vivant wines are exclusively from the red variety Pinot Noir. Like most Grands Crus from the Côte de Nuits, they are characterized by red and black berry aromas with floral, spicy and vegetal notes. They are also powerful, yet delicate and very sensual. Their incredible ageing potential sometimes allows them to age between 20 to 30 years.
