Cesari Wines : Key Points

Cesari takes its name from its founder, Gerardo Cesari, who acquired vineyards in the hills of Valpolicella in the Veneto region in 1936. Today, 4 vineyards stretch over more than 100 hectares, under the names Bosan, Il Bosco, Jèma and Centofilari. Cesari wines owe their greatness and renown largely to Franco, Gerardo's son. Franco's desire to produce Amarone and to make these wines the elite of Italian red wines led him to improve his winemaking techniques. Aware of the importance of protecting his terroir, Franco embarked on a sustainable development approach in his vineyards. The result paid off, as Cesari's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico was the first to reach 5 continents, and is still going strong today. Harvested by hand, the bunches of grapes from which the Amarone is made undergo the traditional process of natural drying, known as appassimento or passerillage, which is typical of Valpolicella and results in the creation of deep, concentrated wines with a unique aromatic profile.
