The 2013 Paul Jaboulet-Aîné Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert is a single grape variety wine made of Syrah. It was grown on a vineyard of about 40 hectares, located on the stony terraces from the glacial period. The round pebbles of the soil accumulate the warmth of the day to reproduce it during the night. This gives an optimum ripeness to the grapes.
This ruby-tinted very deep red 2013 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert gives off black berry, incense, pine spice notes, enhanced by a bright minerality which confer it an extraordinary aromatic complexity. On the palate this vintage is juicy and supple, embellished by concentrated dark fruit notes. The finish of this 2013 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert is spicy, long with strong but blended tannins that develop a hint of liquorice.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Showing beautifully from barrel and now from bottle, the 2013 Crozes Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert is 100% Syrah that wasn't harvested until October 12th, which is two weeks later than average. Aged 12 months in 20% new French oak, it possesses a finesse-driven style in its blackberry and currant fruits, loamy earth, licorice and peppery herbs. Sweetening up in the glass, with medium to full-bodied depth and richness, it has fine tannin, bright acidity and a clean, classy finish. I'd like more density here, but it's beautifully made and will evolve nicely for a decade.
