Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Domaine de Roure 2024 by Paul Jaboulet-Aîné
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a pale gold hue enhanced by brilliant highlights.
Nose
The bouquet opens on a fine minerality before releasing delicate notes of honey-scented flowers and yellow stone fruits.
Palate
The palate offers a beautifully balanced structure, combining a mineral freshness with subtle hints of tropical fruits. The whole seduces with its complexity and well-judged acidity.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood, buttery white fish such as halibut or sea bass, as well as a lemon-roasted chicken. It will also elevate a saffron risotto, vegetable tarts or dishes with mild Asian spices.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal tasting, it is recommended to serve this wine at a temperature between 12 and 14°C. For its conservation, favour a dark space with a temperature of 12 to 15°C and humidity above 70%.
The Pure Expression of Marsanne at the Heart of the Crozes-Hermitage Appellation
The estate
Founded in 1834 by Antoine Jaboulet, the Paul Jaboulet-Aîné House is a historic institution of the Rhône Valley. Watching over a vineyard of approximately 114 hectares spread across prestigious appellations, the estate was acquired in 2006 by the Frey family. Today, under the leadership of Delphine Frey and her father Jean-Jacques Frey, who have taken over from Caroline Frey, the property carries on a demanding philosophy. Fully certified in organic and biodynamic agriculture, the estate stands out for its deep commitment to preserving ecosystems and to the authentic expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
Located in the commune of Gervans, this terroir occupies the highest-altitude sector of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, behind the hill of Hermitage. The vines dedicated to white wines extend over nearly three hectares and benefit from a south to south-west exposure. They thrive on deep soils composed of white earth and loess. A genuine ecological sanctuary classified as an LPO refuge, this small valley preserves a rich biodiversity. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of biodynamics, incorporating climate adaptation techniques such as bridge-braiding of the vines.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest is carried out by hand with a meticulous sorting at the plot in small crates. To avoid an overly harsh extraction, whole clusters are gently pressed. After cold settling, fermentation takes place in French oak barrels, demi-muids or concrete eggs. Aging then continues on fine lees in these same vessels. Notably, malolactic fermentation is not carried out, a deliberate choice that preserves all the aromatic freshness and acidity of the wine.
Grape variety
100% Marsanne.
