L'Esprit de Chevalier 2019

Brisk-edged, with lemon pith and fleur de sel notes guiding a core of white peach and gooseberry. This doesn't have a ton of range, but it does have excellent focus and purity. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now through 2024. 1,500 cases made.

Second wine of Domaine de Chevalier white, and this is a little softer, with less zip and grip than the main bottling. Still a charming white with a juicy finish, one to drink over the next few years, enjoying the still-balanced and sexy stone fruits.

Plenty of green-apple and pear aromas with vanilla and cream undertones. Kiwi, too. Medium to full body with oily character and a fruity undertone. Hints of vanilla and crushed stone. Flavorful finish. Second wine of Domaine de Chevalier. 65% sauvignon blanc and 35% semillon. Needs two or three years to come together. Better after 2024.

Bright, fresh, zesty and tangy, yellow citrus with hints of tangerine and flowers, ending with a crisp, vibrant finish. Drink from 2022-2028.

Starting with the 2019 L'Esprit De Chevalier Blanc, which is the second white of the château, it reveals a light gold hue to go with classy, classic Bordeaux Blanc notes of ripe lemon, honeyed pineapple, spice, and some chalky minerality. Medium-bodied and elegant on the palate, it shows the vibrant, pure, elegant style of the estate and is already hard to resist. It's well worth buying and drinking, especially if it helps you give the top wine a few years in the cellar.

A blend of 65% Sauvignon Blanc and 35% Semillon, the 2019 L'Esprit de Chevalier Blanc opens with notes of struck match and wet slate leading to a core of grapefruit oil, mandarin peel, and lime blossom with a touch of oyster shell. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers intense citrus flavors with a crisp backbone and steely finish.

[ 2019 Primeurs score: 92 ] Sauvignon lacework, fine and precise, very drinkable, with a fairly long finish. A success.

Logo on the cork: DIAM5 Pale color with green highlights. Fruity nose with a hint of Sauvignon character. A touch of oak. Delicate on the attack, flavorful through the mid-palate, with structure on the finish; caressing, the wine develops a juicy, even noble feel on the palate. It’s very good.
