Description
The producer
The E.Guigal estate was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal, in Ampuis. His son, Marcel, took over in 1961. Today, it is the third generation that perpetuates the heritage and values of this iconic family estate in the Rhône Valley.
Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, the E. Guigal estate watches over a patchwork of vineyards located in numerous appellation, creating a range of wines of impeccable quality. Over the years, E. Guigal has developed rapidly, becoming the owner of the famous Château d'Ampuis in 1995, as well as several other wine estates (Jean-Louis Grippat, Domaine de Vallouit, Domaine de Bonserine and Château de Nalys, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape).
The vineyard
The Vignes de l'Hospice by E.Guigal is produced from a monopoly comprising exceptional vineyards from the former Jean-Louis Grippat and Vallouit estates, located in the Saint-Joseph appellation. The vines are between 20 and 80 years old on average and are planted on an impressive steep hillside with granite soil.

Following the temperature-controlled vinification (up to 33°C), the wine is aged in new oak barrels for 30 months.
