Domaine Vincent Pinard : Charlouise 2022

A beautifully expressive Pinot Noir from one of the top Sancerre domaines. This deep ruby wine is rich in aromas of ripe blueberries, black cherries and strawberries, with a hint of savoury oak. The palate is fleshy, with masses of fruit and oak spice. There is lovely concentration and a little alcoholic heat from the ripeness of the vintage. The low-yielding fruit from 50-year-old vines is treated with appropriate care: handpicked and destemmed before fermenting with native yeasts. A cool pre-fermentation maceration brings the fruit to the fore. Approachable now, but will be much improved in a year or two.
