Description
A mineral Loire white wine with fine persistence
The estate
Arnaud, Lionel and Jean-Christophe Bourgeois are the third generation at the helm of the family estate founded in 1950 by Henri Bourgeois. Covering 72 hectares, the vineyard of Domaine Henri Bourgeois extends over a mosaic of terroirs composed of clay-limestone soils, Kimmeridgian marl, and flint, all contributing to the signature of each of these Loire wines.
Through the passion and rigor applied both to vineyard management and to parcel-by-parcel vinification, of which it was one of the pioneers, the Bourgeois Family produces wines recognized for their quality, finesse, and pure expression of each of these great original terroirs.
The vineyard
The Cuvée d’Antan of the Bourgeois Family is a vin de Sancerre from a parcel planted in 1936 and farmed organically on a flinty terroir.
Vinification and aging
Vinified according to the ancestral « d’Antan » methods, the grapes are first gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in old oak barrels. The aging on fine lees of this vin de Sancerre blanc lasts one year, with an additional two-year aging after bottling in the estate’s cellars. No fining or filtration.
Grape variety
The 2023 Cuvée d’Antan from Domaine Henri Bourgeois is 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
