Description
Characteristics and tasting notes for Domaine du Tunnel "Cuvée Prestige" 2024
Tasting
Colour
This white wine from France reveals a clear, luminous lemon-yellow hue of beautiful intensity. Broad tears form on the sides of the glass.
Nose
Wonderfully intense, the bouquet opens with delicate aromas of candied lemon, enhanced by the opulence of exotic fruits and vanilla. Subtle floral touches and a very refined oakiness complete this aromatic palette.
Palate
The attack is wonderfully fresh, carried by lovely acidity. The palate then reveals itself to be full-bodied, round and lively, unfolding intense flavours of mango and pear. A creamy texture harmonises with light spicy notes reminiscent of cinnamon, before stretching into a persistent, deeply mineral finish.
Food and wine pairing
This cuvée pairs perfectly with poultry such as chicken or turkey, particularly when served with a light cream sauce. It also enhances seafood and delicate fish, as well as white meats such as veal or rabbit.
Service and storage
Domaine du Tunnel "Cuvée Prestige" 2024 is already a great pleasure to drink, but it can be cellared until around 2034. For optimal aging, it is recommended to store it lying down in a dark place, at a stable temperature of between 12 and 15 degrees.
Other characteristics
This wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%.
The elegance and minerality of a Saint-Péray white wine
The estate
Officially founded in 1996 by Stéphane and Sandrine Robert, Domaine du Tunnel is a key reference in the Rhône Valley. Still run today by Stéphane Robert, the estate spans twelve hectares of vineyards spread across several appellations. The estate takes its name from an old stone railway tunnel, 170 metres long, which has been brilliantly restored to provide ideal natural aging conditions. Certified High Environmental Value, the estate stands out for its respectful approach to terroir and its minimal-intervention winemaking.
The vineyard
The grapes come from the Saint-Péray appellation, located at the southern end of the northern part of the region. The vines, with an average age of around fifty years, are planted on steep hillsides and terraces with granite soils rich in quartz and mica. This demanding terroir, worked exclusively by hand, naturally limits yields and encourages optimal concentration in the grapes.
The vintage
2024 was marked by a particularly demanding growing cycle. The season benefited from strong sunshine offset by sufficiently cool nighttime temperatures, creating weather conditions conducive to balanced grape development.
Winemaking and aging
The making of Domaine du Tunnel "Cuvée Prestige" 2024 begins with plot-by-plot winemaking, with fermentation taking place in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness of the juice. The wine is then aged for eight to ten months in oak barrels that have already held one to three wines. This aging takes place at the heart of the estate's historic tunnel, benefiting from a constant temperature and perfect humidity.
Grape varieties
80% Marsanne, 20% Roussanne.
