Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for Domaine Denizot's Osmoze Blanc 2024
Tasting Notes
Appearance
Remarkably clear, this white wine reveals a pale, light hue with beautiful natural brightness.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is both vibrant and highly precise. It exudes enticing citrus aromas, such as lemon and grapefruit, mingled with notes of white-fleshed fruits like peach and green apple. Delicate floral touches of elderflower intertwine with subtle nuances of honey, exotic fruits and a pronounced minerality reminiscent of limestone.
Palate
On the palate, this wine offers a dense body perfectly balanced by lovely tension and refreshing acidity. Luscious flavours of juicy white fruits envelop a distinctly mineral and saline backbone. The wine lingers long on a particularly elegant chalky finish.
Food and Wine Pairings
Ideal as an aperitif, this white wine also pairs wonderfully with a seafood platter, oysters, grilled fish, delicately prepared white meats, or goat's cheeses, particularly a Crottin de Chavignol.
Serving and Cellaring
This 2024 vintage can be enjoyed now for its freshness, but it also has the structure needed to age favourably in the cellar until around 2034.
The Mineral Purity and Elegance of a White Sancerre Wine
The Estate
Nestled in the Loire Valley, Domaine Denizot boasts a family winemaking history dating back to the 17th century. Passed down through six generations, the estate has gradually grown to its current 20.5 hectares. Now led by Jennifer and Thibauld Denizot, the domaine combines historic heritage with a contemporary winemaking vision. Committed to preserving the authentic expression of their terroirs, the winemakers favour an environmentally respectful approach, resulting in wines of remarkable precision.
The Vineyard
The grapes come from a mosaic of plots located in the villages of Amigny, Chavignol, Verdigny and Sancerre. The vineyard is planted exclusively on caillottes soils, Portlandian limestone typical of the area, which encourage a pronounced mineral expression. Planted at high density, the vines are grown using a sustainable approach with an organic leaning. The soils are carefully tended, with no use of insecticides, acaricides or herbicides, in order to preserve biodiversity and natural balance.
Winemaking and Ageing
This white Sancerre wine is made from carefully hand-harvested grapes. In the cellar, the berries undergo a long and particularly gentle pneumatic pressing, followed by thorough settling to clarify the juice. Fermentation takes place in concrete and stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged on fine lees for about a year. The blending of the different plots takes place in spring. To preserve its full purity and clarity, the wine is left unfiltered.
Grape Variety
Sauvignon Blanc (100%).
