Domaine de la Mordorée : La Reine des Bois Lirac Rouge 2022

A seductive, serious and textural blend of grenache, syrah and mourvedre. The nose expresses notes of sweet cherries, roasted meat, dark plums, baking spices and a dash of cocoa powder. It’s full-bodied with finely grained tannins. Dense and harmonious with a focused finish of excellent length. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold.

40% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 30% Syrah. 15% is aged in oak casks. Certified organic and biodynamic (Demeter). Tank/cask sample. Tasted blind. Crushed forest fruits and blackberry nose. Generous mouthfeel with a mouth-coating richness, good concentration of dark fruits and a plush core. Energetic and pure finish. (AC)

Dark young colour with a purple hue. Nuanced nose offering garrigue, pepper, ripe plum, cassis, and tobacco notes. The palate is concentrated and rich with layers of fragrant dark fruit, with spicy garrigue notes, underlined by a fresh acidity and a long meaty finish.

The 2022 Lirac Cuvée De La Reine Des Bois checks in as 40% Syrah and the rest equal parts Grenache and Mourvèdre. It's a killer bottle of wine that has both red and black fruits intermixed with notions of peppery garrigue, flowers, melted licorice, and graphite. With a rare level of purity and precision, it's medium to full-bodied, has a supple, layered mouthfeel, fine tannins, and a great finish.
