Characteristics and tasting tips for the Riesling "Les Éléments" 2024 from Domaine Bott Geyl
Tasting
Appearance
The wine displays a clear, brilliant yellow colour.
Nose
The nose opens with lovely freshness, revealing citrus notes of lemon and zest, harmoniously interwoven with delicate floral touches.
Palate
Pure and racy, the palate stands out for its great elegance and precision. It is carried by a fine, crystalline acidity that highlights a backbone of citrus and flowers. The whole shows lovely minerality and stretches into a precise, mouthwatering finish.
Food and wine pairings
This food-friendly white wine pairs beautifully with a traditional choucroute, grilled andouillette or a generous seafood platter. Its freshness and minerality also make it an ideal partner for grilled fish, sushi, ceviche or white meats.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, serve this Riesling "Les Éléments" 2024 at a temperature of 8°C. This wine can be enjoyed now for its youthful character, but it also has fine ageing potential, allowing it to develop in the cellar until around 2034.
The elegance and minerality of a great white wine from Alsace by Domaine Bott Geyl
The estate
Although the family's winegrowing history dates back to 1795, Domaine Bott Geyl was officially founded in 1953 by Édouard Bott. Located in Beblenheim, in the heart of Alsace in France, the estate is now run by Jean-Christophe Bott. This passionate winemaker brought about a genuine shift in quality by converting the vineyard to organic farming in 2000, then to biodynamics in 2002. Renowned for its discretion and high standards, the estate produces pure, precise wines free of artifice that faithfully reflect the richness of their terroirs.
The vineyard
The grapes for this cuvée come from carefully selected plots within the Alsace vineyard. These vines thrive on clay, silt and sandstone soils, an ideal terroir that promotes even ripening and clear aromatic expression. The estate farms these plots according to the rigorous principles of biodynamics, favouring soil cultivation through ploughing and hand-digging, the use of organic composts and the complete absence of synthetic herbicides, in order to preserve biodiversity and the health of the vines.
Vinification and ageing
The Riesling "Les Éléments" 2024 is harvested exclusively by hand, once the skins and seeds have reached full ripeness. The bunches are transported in small crates to keep them intact before a gentle, slow pneumatic pressing. Fermentation takes place naturally with indigenous yeasts, without any chaptalisation or enzyme addition. The wine is then aged on fine lees for four to eight months, which gives it texture and stability, before being bottled without fining.
