Description
A rich and fresh Bordeaux dry white wine
The estate
The history of Château Thieuley commenced in 1950 when André Courselle acquired the château in order to turn it into a winery. In 1972, his son Francis changed estate’s fate by transforming the vineyard. The estate’s original 4-hectare vineyard was extended and reached 80 hectares, spreading across Château Thieuley, Clos Saint Anne and Château Saint Genès. The ancestral passion runs through the family's veins, as today Sylvie and Marie Courselle, both agricultural engineers and oenologists, perpetuate the outstanding work carried out by their talented father.
The vineyard
Produced in the Bordeaux dry white wine appellation, this Château Thieuley 2021 stems from a 25-hectare plot of land that rests on a clay-limestone soil.
Constantly seeking excellence and respecting the environment, the estate manages its vineyard in a sustainable manner. Château Thieuley has been awarded the "Terra Vitis", "High Environmental Value" and "Bee Friendly" labels, enhancing the estate’s strong and lasting values regarding biodiversity.
Vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes are taken to the cellar to begin a very precise vinification process. Firstly, a skin maceration is carried out, followed by a pneumatic pressing with nitrogen. Then the wine ferments in stainless steel tanks before ageing on its lees for three months with stirring.
The blend
Château Thieuley 2021 comprises a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (50%), Semillon (35%) and Sauvignon Gris (15%).
