Description
Complex and delicate, a fine Haut-Médoc red wine
The estate
Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, at the gates of Pauillac, Château Peyrabon is nestled in a green haven. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Château Peyrabon has undergone major restructuring and modernisation, both in the vineyard and in the winery. Classified a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château Peyrabon has become an important reference in Haut-Médoc. The estate produces wines representative of the appellation, wines that are elegant and powerful with a superb potential for ageing.
The vineyard
Château Peyrabon 2021 is a Haut-Médoc wine that comprises around 37 hectares of vines in the commune of Saint-Sauveur Médoc. The vines are 28 years old on average and are planted on sandy gravel upon a clay subsoil. 5 hectares of vineyard are planted in clay-limestone soils. The vineyard has earned the ISO14001-2015 and HVE (High Environmental Value) certifications, with phytosanitary protection carried out in a sustainable way.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are transferred using vibrating bucket and are destemmed and optically sorted before crushing and vatting. The vinification process is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats. Average maceration lasts 21 days. The presses are separated and selected after tasting. Part of the wine is placed in barrels when it is run off. The wine is aged for 14 months in barrels (30% new wood) and then fined in vats.
The blend
Château Peyrabon 2021 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
