Description
A fruity and delicious Haut-Médoc red wine
The estate
Located in the Haut-Médoc appellation, on the doorstep of Pauillac, Château Peyrabon is nestled in a lush green setting. Owned by Patrick Bernard since 1998, Château Peyrabon has undergone significant restructuring and modernization, both in the vineyard and the winery. Château Peyrabon is a very fine reference in the Haut-Médoc, through elegant and powerful wines, promising superb aging potential.
The vineyard
In the commune of Saint-Sauveur Médoc, the Château Peyrabon vineyard spreads across approximately 37 hectares of vines aged 20 years on average, planted on sandy gravel resting on a clay subsoil. Clay-limestone soils are found on 5 hectares of the vineyard.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes, transferred by vibrating hopper, undergo destemming and rigorous sorting. Plot-by-plot vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled concrete and stainless steel vats, accompanied by pumping over and rack-and-return tailored to favor gentle extraction. Maceration lasts 19 to 24 days. The press wines are separated then selected after tasting. Aging lasts 13 months in barrels (5% new wood) followed by fining in vats.
Blend
This Château Peyrabon 2014 is a blend of Merlot (51%), Cabernet Sauvignon (46%) and Petit Verdot (3%).
Tasting
Nose
