Description

Chateau Leoville Barton, the elegance of a Saint-Julien Cru

A 2nd Classified Growth by the 1855 ranking, Chateau Leoville Barton is an emblematic property of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, consistently producing wines of irreproachable quality. For almost two centuries, the Barton family, originally from Ireland, has managed to preserve and perpetuate the nobility of this historical estate.

Located in the town of Saint-Julien, between Pauillac and Margaux, Leoville Barton extends over an area of 50 hectares, whose clay soils are conducive to the development of the region’s emblematic red grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, which also accounts for 74 % of the vines planted on the property. The estate also grows Merlot (23% of the planted hectares) and Cabernet Franc (3%).

Made from a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, the Grand Vin of Chateau Leoville Barton 2010 is one of the most outstanding wines in the Bordeaux region.

At the tasting, the Chateau Leoville Barton 2010 reveals a dense, deep red colour with purple reflections. Splendid and rich, the aromatic palette evokes the solar character of its vintage, with notes reminiscent of linden flowers and hyacinth. On the palate, the wine reveals a superb body, marked by the robust yet velvety nature of its tannins. The finish ends with a beautiful length and persistent acidity. A superb Saint-Julien already in its youth, this wine can either be consumed now or kept easily until 2030.
