Description

Château La Lagune produces a complex and very fine Haut-Médoc red wine

The estate

Château La Lagune is beautifully located on the left bank of Bordeaux. Since 2004, Caroline Frey has put her talent to work in order to elevate Château La Lagune to the very top.

The vineyard

Situated on a gravelly hillside, Château La Lagun’s vineyard covers 80 hectares. The vines of this very fine reference, among the finest in the Haut-Médoc appellation, are cultivated according to organic and biodynamic farming practices.

The vintage

Autumn was mild and rainy. The winter was cold and dry, except in January and February when there was excess rainfall. The mildness and low rainfall recorded from April onwards persisted until the end of July. The summer was marked by heatwaves which had an impact on the vineyards. The coolness and rainy periods in August and September advanced ripeness levels. A major rainy spell on October 2nd punctuated a cool, dry month. This year 2015 was thus marked by a significant drought during the growth cycle and cooler conditions during the ripening period, so reducing the risk of water stress and its possible impact on the vineyard. The 2015 harvest took place in sunny and mild weather, alternating with cool nights, ideal conditions for achieving optimum ripeness and developing a pleasant aromatic expression. The health of the vineyard was impeccable throughout the harvest.

Characteristics and tasting tips for Château La Lagune 2015

Tasting

Colour
The colour is a beautiful intense purple.

Nose
The aromatic expression is frank, pure, ample and fresh without lacking finesse. Blackcurrant, crushed blackberries, vanilla notes and violet perfume work together to express the full aromatic brilliance of this wine.

Palate
A punchy attack gives way to a svelte, round and full mouth that possesses a great freshness. The tannic structure delights with its density as well as its silky and delicate feel. Fleshy and fruity, this very precise wine reveals aromas that resonate with the nose. The finish is complex and powerful offers a great persistence.
