Vinum

Fresh nose, green apple, smoky notes, quince, floral notes; juicy palate, very lively, with great tension, concentrated yet weightless; very well balanced, with a creamy texture and a juicy, fresh finish.

Decanter

Sweet and luscious, a lovely lick of pineapple and mango straight away – ripe, sweet, but also salty the two giving a nice interplay between power and concentration and brightness and energy. Grippy and fun with an approachable element as well as being signature Sauternes from a great vintage. Sweet candied lemons, pineapple chunks and wet stones. Yummy.

Attractive balance and bite, with steel, citrus, preserved lemons, patisserie, grated ginger, baked pineapple, plenty of lift, successfully walks the line of opulence and biting acidities that are so needed in such a concentrated vintage. Great stuff from ex-Yquem director Sandrine Garbay.

Chalky nuances mingle with aromas of cocoa and jasmine blossom before giving way to notes of orange peel, liquorice and lemongrass. Its complexity needs no further proof, and the range of aromatic characteristics mentioned is far from exhaustive! The dense attack combines with both smooth and incisive qualities. Harmony is immediate, and the wine shines not only for its breadth but also for its lively, fresh edge. All of this is crowned by an endlessly lingering finish. A brilliant wine.

Jean-Marc Quarin

Jean-Marc Quarin

Pale yellow color, bright and brilliant. An intense, refined, pure, subtle nose, with hints of raspberry and cream. Remarkable on the palate, offering a very classy texture, a fresh and subtle aromatic profile, a silky, melt-in-the-mouth flow, and a long, precise finish. A truly seductive and magnificent whole. Blend: 66% Sémillon, 27% Sauvignon Blanc, 7% Sauvignon Gris. Alcohol: 13.33% - pH: 3.83. Residual sugar: 145 g/L. Yield: 14 hL/ha.

The Pure and Balanced Expression of a Great Sauternes Cru

The estate
Founded in 1766 by Pierre Guiraud, Château Guiraud is an emblematic figure of the Bordeaux region. This 128-hectare estate, recognized as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855, has made its mark by becoming the first of its rank to obtain organic certification in 2011. Today, the property is managed by Sandrine Garbay, under the leadership of its current owner, Matthieu Gufflet, majority shareholder since 2021. The estate stands out for its environmental commitment and its constant pursuit of excellence.

The vineyard
Of the estate's 128 hectares, 54 are specifically dedicated to the Sauternes appellation. The vines, on average 25 to 30 years old, are planted at a density of 6,600 vines per hectare. This singular terroir lies on soils composed of 80% sandy gravel and 20% clayey gravel. Deeper down, the subsoils reveal translucent sands as well as pure gravels crossed by veins of red and white clay, limestone marls and bands of oyster limestone.

The vintage
The year 2025 offered climatic conditions particularly favorable to the development of noble rot. After months marked by a water deficit and warm temperatures that ideally concentrated the aromas within the berries.

Vinification and aging
The manual harvest of botrytized grapes took place from September 15 to October 3, 2025. It required four successive sortings to select the finest fruit. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, in new and one-year-old French oak barrels. The wine then benefits from 18 months of aging in these same oak barrels, with a controlled yield of 14 hectoliters per hectare. ABV: 13.33% vol.

Grape varieties
Sémillon (66%), Sauvignon Blanc (27%) and Sauvignon Gris (7%).
