Château Gazin in Pomerol experienced peaceful, healthy harvests and spent time in successive waves to harvest its grapes, making sure to pick them at perfect maturity. The grape harvests were very spread out particularly for Merlots (22, 27, 28, 29 and 30 September). The 87% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon making up the blend of Gazin 2016 made it possible to vinify and elaborate a wine that combines aromatic wealth and a straightforward palate.
The colour is dense and dark. Though the nose seems timid at first, it shows itself completely upon stirring, revealing long and pretty red fruit, including cherry and blackcurrant. The aromas are fresh. The palate shows off an impressive density and very straightforward tannins with an elegant quality but plenty of tension as well. With 14°C, the wine is neither heavy nor opulent, but on the contrary of good drinkability. This Pomerol has a mineral side. Gazin 2016 has gained with this vintage in power and weight. A beautiful Pomerol that will age very well. Very successful!
Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2016 Gazin features a beautifully perfumed nose of violets, Ceylon tea, cigar box, sandalwood and fallen leaves over a core of plum preserves, kirsch and blackberry preserves plus a waft of aniseed. Medium-bodied and elegant, with compelling restraint, it has a seductively plush texture, finishing with bags of poise, perfume and persistence.
