2004 Saint-Julien, 2nd Cru Classe, Bordeaux.

Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou occupies a unique wine-making terroir with a stunning view on the Gironde estuary. The vineyard 75 hectares is divided, West of the Saint-Julien appellation. This 2004 is 77% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 23% Merlot

The wine displays a deep purple colour and reveals a fruity, concentrated and very expressive nose. On the palate, the 2004 Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou develops certain amplitude. This scrumptious wine is really long.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
One can't say enough about the efforts Bruno Borie is pouring into this wonderful estate that I have often called the "Lafite Rothschild of St.-Julien." An undeniable success, the 2004 Ducru boasts sweet aromas of creme de cassis, spring flowers, pain grille, licorice, and road tar. This pure, medium-bodied wine possesses moderately high tannin, superb concentration, good sweetness, and low acidity. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 25 years.
