Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for Tinus Raisins Rôtis Solera 1720 from Les Tourettes
Tasting notes
Nose
The nose reveals remarkable aromatic richness, marked by notes of roasted and candied fruit. Fragrances of dried apricot and overripe yellow fruit intertwine with delicate floral nuances. Complexity builds with touches of subtle spice, a testament to the blending of several vintages according to the solera system.
Palate
On the palate, the wine reveals an imposing structure and remarkable density. The limestone minerality of the terroir comes fully to the fore, bringing a tension that balances the richness of the fruit. The texture is creamy and enveloping, while the aromatic persistence lingers generously. Notes of candied fruit and spice accompany a finish with slightly bitter accents, the signature of the complexity brought by solera ageing.
Food and wine pairings
This sweet wine is an ideal partner for pan-seared or semi-cooked foie gras, whose richness harmonises perfectly with the roasted fruit aromas. It also pairs well with blue-veined cheeses such as Roquefort, creating a delicious contrast between the sweetness of the wine and the saltiness of the cheese. For a bolder pairing, this Tinus Raisins Rôtis Solera 1720 elevates yellow-fruit desserts, notably an apricot tart or a peach crumble.
Serving and cellaring
Tinus Raisins Rôtis Solera 1720 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 10 and 12°C, allowing its aromatic palette to express itself at its best. No decanting is necessary to fully appreciate this wine.
A Vin de France crafted using the solera method
The estate
Founded in the late 1990s by Jean-Marie Guffens and Maine Heynen, Les Tourettes extends over 15 hectares. Located on the Plateau d'Apt at an altitude of 420 metres, the estate is still run by Jean-Marie Guffens, a Burgundian winemaker of international renown, alongside his daughter Marie and the oenologist Julien Desplans. The estate stands out for its rejection of the appellation d'origine contrôlée system in favour of the Vin de France label, thereby prioritising creative freedom and the authentic expression of the terroir. The estate cultivates white and red grape varieties using sustainable practices.
The vineyard
This Vin de France comes from vineyards located on the Plateau d'Apt, at an altitude of 420 metres. The limestone soils, enriched with clay and chalk, provide the vines with ideal conditions for developing pronounced minerality. The altitude creates a beneficial microclimate with cool nights that preserve the natural freshness of the grapes, even under the Mediterranean climate. The vines, grown sustainably without harsh chemicals, benefit from a protected environment within a nature reserve. The harvest is carried out by hand, early in the morning, to guarantee the integrity of the grapes destined for this exceptional cuvée.
The blend
Tinus Raisins Rôtis Solera 1720 is crafted using a solera system combining the 2017 to 2020 vintages. This method, traditionally associated with Andalusian wines, creates a timeless expression that transcends annual climatic variations. Each vintage contributes its own characteristics, harmonised in a complex blend that gains in depth and richness over time.
Vinification and ageing
Tinus Raisins Rôtis Solera 1720 is made from grapes that have reached exceptional overripeness through raisining, botrytis or roasting. The solera system applied to this cuvée involves the progressive blending of several vintages, allowing for controlled micro-oxidation and the development of complex flavours. This demanding technique encourages the emergence of rich tertiary aromas and remarkable length on the palate, while preserving the characteristic minerality of the limestone terroir.
