Description
The intensity and precision of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
The estate
Having become part of the Beyney family in 1923 and passionately led by Jean-Guy Beyney since 1986, the Grand Cru Classé Château Clos de Sarpe perfectly embodies the nobility of the great terroir of Saint-Émilion on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
The 3.35-hectare vineyard of Château Clos de Sarpe is currently undergoing conversion to organic agriculture. The 65-year-old vines are planted on the famous clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion.
The vintage
2017 will be remembered at Château Clos de Sarpe, as this year marks the vineyard’s official conversion to organic.
Once again praised by critics, Château Clos de Sarpe 2017 was one of the most impressive revelations of this atypical “de vigneron” vintage, confirming its rank among the finest names of the Saint-Émilion appellation. With a vineyard spared by the late-April frost episodes, the vine’s vegetative cycle was able to continue under the best conditions, ensuring optimal ripeness and excellent phenolic potential while retaining beautiful fruit freshness.
Blend
Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%).
