Description
The intensity and precision of a fruity and elegant Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion
The estate
Entered into the fold of the Beyney family in 1923, passionately and resolutely managed by Jean-Guy Beyney since 1986, the Grand Cru Classé Château Clos de Sarpe exemplifies all the nobility of Saint-Émilion’s great terroir on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
The 3.35-hectare vineyard of Château Clos de Sarpe is currently undergoing conversion to organic farming. The 65-year-old vines are planted on the famous clay-limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion.
The vintage
2017 will remain memorable for Château Clos de Sarpe as this year marks the vineyard’s official entry into organic conversion.
Once again praised by critics, Château Clos de Sarpe 2017 was one of the most impressive revelations of this atypical vintage known as a de vigneron, confirming its rank among the finest names of the Saint-Émilion appellation. With a vineyard spared by the late April frost episodes, the vine’s growth cycle was able to continue under the best conditions, ensuring optimal ripeness and excellent phenolic potential while retaining a beautiful fruit freshness.
Blend
Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%).
