Description
An exceptional Pomerol wine from old vines
The estate
Established in the 16th century on the heights of Pomerol, Château Clinet now cultivates its vineyard on 9.8 hectares in production. Under the leadership of Ronan Laborde for many years, this family estate has reclaimed its nobility after its modern rebirth orchestrated by Jean Michel Arcaute and Michel Rolland between 1980 and 2000. The estate stands out thanks to its privileged location on the Pomerol plateau.
The vineyard
This 9.8-hectare producing vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir in Pomerol, planted on clay-gravel soils. This geological mosaic, composed of ancestral terroirs with cool subsoils and gravelly surfaces, flourishes on an open, well-ventilated plateau. The vines, of venerable age with 90-year-old Merlot and 74-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines, come from massal selection and have a high leaf area.
Winemaking and aging
Winemaking favors traditional methods with a gravity-fed reception into small stainless steel tanks. Aging takes place 60% in new barrels and 40% in one-wine barrels.
Blend
This Château Clinet 2024 is the result of a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%).
