The estate
Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Clinet, with its famous gravel plots, is one of the most beautiful references of the Pomerol appellation. This property on the right bank of Bordeaux was acquired in 1999 by the Laborde family.
The vineyard
Château Clinet has an exceptional 9-hectare vineyard planted in a clay-gravelly soil. The vineyard is managed with sustainable agriculture practices.
The vintage
The 2020 vintage was marked by a very rainy spring, followed by a hot and particularly dry summer. While the grapes harvested at full maturity were small in size, their health was remarkable.
Vinification and ageing
Manual sorting followed by light crushing. Plot vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, accompanied by manual punching down to promote gentle extraction. Ageing lasted around 16 months in new barrels (80%) (Bordeaux barrels of 225 litres and "Burgundian" barrels of 500 litres) as well as in second-fill barrels (20%).
The blend
The Château Clinet 2020 is made from a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%).
