Description
An exceptional gift set bringing together two great wine expressions by Château Cheval Blanc
The estates
Founded in 1832, Château Cheval Blanc is an icon of Saint-Émilion, owned by Bernard Arnault and the Frère family since 1998, and led since 1990 by Pierre Lurton, then from 2023 by Pierre-Olivier Clouet.
Cheval des Andes is a prestigious wine estate born twenty years ago from an initiative by Pierre Lurton, combining the expertise of Château Cheval Blanc with the terroirs of Mendoza. On two complementary terroirs (Las Compuertas and Altamira) are planted old Malbec vines that give rise to great Argentine wines with fine tannins and freshness of rare delicacy.
An unprecedented duo gift set
In the Cheval family, here are the brothers!
The duo formed by Petit Cheval Blanc 2023 and Cheval des Andes 2022 embodies a shared philosophy, shaped by the know-how of teams passionate about their respective terroirs. In Saint-Émilion and at the foot of the Andes, each plot is treated as a unique entity, vinified separately to capture the essence of place without seeking to standardize the wine. Each year brings its own challenges, and the goal is to craft the best possible wine according to the vintage conditions, with a consistent style but a changing personality.
The wines
Made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (73%) and Sémillon (27%), Petit Cheval Blanc 2023 is a great dry white Bordeaux wine, combining acidity and roundness with notes of citrus and white flowers.
Cheval des Andes 2022, a high-altitude Argentine wine, marries the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), the richness of Malbec (30%), and the fruitiness of Petit Verdot (5%).
These wines, built to age, are already revealing their potential. The gift set showcases this sibling pair: one shines with its brightness, the other with its depth—both bearing witness to the same exacting standards and a promise of quality.
