Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Garenne" 2025 by Au Pied du Mont Chauve

Tasting

This vintage charms with its aromatic expression, releasing notes of lemon and flint.

An expressive and delicate Premier Cru from Puligny-Montrachet

The estate

Daughter of one of Burgundy's greatest winemaking families, Francine Picard took over the estate historically run by her father in the late 1990s. The Domaine Au Pied du Mont Chauve stretches across the villages of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin, at the heart of the most beautiful climats and terroirs of winegrowing Burgundy.

Driven by a desire for synergy between the land and the wines, Francine Picard farms her parcels according to the principles of biodynamics and devotes herself with passion and the utmost attention to producing wines that reflect the identity of their terroir. Grown on a 110-hectare vineyard cultivated through "agro-ecology", the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir of Domaine Au Pied du Mont Chauve are renowned for their quality, precision and elegance. Since May 2019, Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne, a specialist in biodynamic viticulture, has joined the Domaine's team as Technical Director.

The vineyard

The La Garenne climat lies mid-slope at around 150 metres in altitude, benefiting from a south-south-east exposure. Located in the extension of the prestigious Le Montrachet cru, this Puligny-Montrachet terroir rests on marls and colluvium of undetermined calcareous brown-red soils. The soil offers a significant water reserve down to 60 centimetres deep. The vineyard combines very old vines of 70 years with a portion of young vines. The vineyard is managed according to the principles of biodynamics, with naturally grassed soils worked mechanically.

Grape variety

This white wine from Burgundy is 100% Chardonnay.
