The elegance and precision of a great white wine from Chassagne-Montrachet
The estate
Founded in the late 2000s, the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate carries forward the rich legacy of the Picard family, whose winemaking history in Burgundy began in 1951. Now led by Francine Picard, the estate spans 35 hectares of prestigious terroirs. Located in Chassagne-Montrachet, the domaine stands out for its deep commitment to biodynamics and agro-ecology. This environmentally respectful approach, combined with natural winemaking, gives rise to wines of rare precision and elegance.
The vineyard
This cuvée comes from the "La Maltroie" climat, ideally situated at the top of the slope in the commune of Chassagne-Montrachet. This gently sloping terroir rests on complex clay-limestone soils, marked by the presence of rocks known as "Loups" and a marl fault line. The vines, around thirty years old, are farmed according to the principles of biodynamics and agro-ecology, without synthetic inputs, to nurture soil life and allow the authentic expression of the subsoil.
Winemaking and ageing
This wine is crafted in strict respect of Burgundian tradition. The estate favours as natural an approach as possible, with fermentations carried out in oak barrels and extended ageing on fine lees, aimed at preserving aromatic purity and the transparency of the terroir.
