2012 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru
This vintage is produced from Domaine Chandon de Briailles Pinot Noir parcel planted in 1954. The plot is located on the lower part of the slope, and lies on deep iron soils mainly composed of clay. The 2012 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses displays an intense colour. The nose promptly exudes fresh fruits followed by lightly spiced notes. The palate is rich, round and slightly tannic. The year 2012 yielded fresh, balanced, colourful, rich and powerful, yet quite sharp red wines. These Burgundy wines superbly reflect their climats (vineyard with specific combination of soil composition and weather conditions).
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2012 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses has a delightful, floral bouquet with dried rose petals infusing the red cherry and fresh strawberry scents. The palate is well structure with gritty tannins, fine tension and symmetry on the finish that is very appealing. Nothing over the top here - just finely made, approachable Burgundy wine that I suspect will age far better than many will give it. Drink now-2020.
