The estate
Founded in 2004 by Yves Leccia, a trained oenologist, and his wife Sandrine, who comes from a family of Alsatian winegrowers, Yves Leccia extends around Poggio d'Oletta, in the Nebbio region of Corsica. Descended from a long line of winegrowers, Yves Leccia chose to return to the island to help revive its viticulture. Today run by the founding couple, the estate is farmed organically and stands out for its commitment to showcasing traditional Corsican grape varieties.
The vineyard
This white wine comes from the Partinelone terroir in Poggio d'Oletta, where the vines grow on clay-limestone soil over a schist bedrock. Facing south-west and benefiting from the maritime influence of the Gulf of Saint-Florent, the plots are planted at a density of 4,000 vines per hectare and farmed organically. This vineyard, classified as IGP Île de Beauté, benefits from traditional soil work combined with organic amendments.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes for the YL Blanc 2025 from Domaine Yves Leccia are hand-harvested, then sorted before whole-bunch pressing. After 24 hours of cold settling at 8°C, the must ferments in a temperature-controlled stainless steel tank at 18°C for fifteen to twenty days, without malolactic fermentation. Ageing continues for six months in stainless steel tank, with no use of oak, in order to preserve the wine's aromatic purity.
Grape varieties
This white wine is a blend of 60% Vermentinu and 40% Biancu Gentile, two Corsican grape varieties grown on the Partinelone terroir.
