Vire-Clesse image

Viré-Clessé is a Mâconnais Village appellation that covers about 400 hectares. It is divided among the communes of Clessé, Laizé, Monbellet and Viré. The Viré-Clessé vineyards grow in limestone, marl-limestone, clay and white pebble limestone soils, and they are located between 200 and 440 metres above sea level. The Viré-Clessé appellation produces only white Chardonnay wines. These wines have an ash-gold colour with greenish reflections. On the nose, they reveal floral, white peach, menthol and vegetal aromas. As they develop with age, they give more balsamic and jammy notes. On the palate, the white wines of Viré-Clessé are lively and fresh. They immediately show roundness, finesse, suppleness and tension.
