Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Chardonnay 2025 by Terrazas de los Andes
Tasting
Nose
The aromatic bouquet is remarkably juicy, revealing generous scents of yellow peach and pear. This fruity core is enriched by notes of grapefruit and candied citrus peel, all subtly softened by a delicate touch of white honey.
Palate
Ample and well structured, the palate offers bright flavours dominated by pear. The whole is perfectly supported by a balanced acidity that brings plenty of tension. The finish stands out for its length and creaminess, hinting at subtle nuances of brioche.
Food and wine pairing
This gastronomic wine pairs beautifully with grilled white fish such as sea bass or hake, as well as with citrus-based dishes like ceviche. It will also make a perfect match for white meats in a light sauce or rich, creamy pasta.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the aromatic profile of the Chardonnay 2025, it is best served at around 12°C. Endowed with a fine structure, this mountain wine can be cellared and will develop gracefully over five to ten years, until around 2035.
The singular expression of a great Argentinian white wine by Terrazas de los Andes
The estate
Formally established in 1996 after years of exploration, Terrazas de los Andes is a pioneer of high-altitude viticulture in Argentina. Located in Luján de Cuyo in the Mendoza region, the estate now belongs to the LVMH group and is managed by Lucas Löwi. It stands out for its deep commitment to sustainability, illustrated by drip irrigation fed by Andean glaciers and a conversion to regenerative viticulture. Covering 500 hectares, it produces mountain wines renowned worldwide for their freshness and precision.
The vineyard
The grapes for this white wine come from high-altitude plots in Gualtallary and El Peral, in the heart of the Valle de Uco. These mountain terroirs enjoy a cool climate and wide diurnal temperature ranges, encouraging slow, balanced ripening of the berries. Currently transitioning to organic farming, the vines are cultivated according to the demanding principles of regenerative viticulture, in perfect harmony with the surrounding environment.
Winemaking and ageing
The Chardonnay 2025 is crafted with a French-inspired approach to winemaking that seeks to combine the freshness of Andean terroirs with fine complexity. The wine is vinified to preserve the grape's natural tension while developing a creamy texture, before being bottled in lightweight, eco-friendly bottles to reduce its carbon footprint.
